ESPN’s Paul Finebaum has been vocal about his concerns regarding Kalen DeBoer’s performance as Alabama’s head coach. Recently, Finebaum stated that DeBoer’s team didn’t look prepared, focused, or like they had a clue what they were getting into during their loss to Oklahoma.¹ ² He also questioned how Alabama can be considered a legitimate playoff team after their losses to Vanderbilt and Oklahoma.
Finebaum emphasized that Alabama’s program is “on the brink” and that DeBoer’s smile is finally wearing thin with the Tide faithful.³ He believes that DeBoer needs to reach the College Football Playoff to alleviate the pressure, especially with the playoff expanding to 12 teams.⁴
It’s worth noting that Finebaum has been critical of DeBoer’s ability to handle the pressure that comes with coaching at Alabama, suggesting that he may not be prepared for the scrutiny that comes with the job.
